Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the clinical judgment necessary for the provision of safe, evidence- based mental health nursing care that improves health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities with mental illness and/or unmet psychosocial needs.
2. Demonstrate use of information management and client care technology that supports the provision of safe, quality nursing care for individuals, families, and communities with mental illness and/or unmet psychosocial needs.
3. Examine the importance of leadership principles that promote safe, quality nursing care of individuals, families, and communities with mental illness and/or unmet psychosocial needs.
4. Demonstrate therapeutic communication and collaboration in the development of nurse/client relationships that contribute to team-based care of individuals, families, and communities with mental illness and/or unmet psychosocial needs.
5. Model professional values, including care of self, in the care of persons with mental illness and/or unmet psychosocial needs.
