Comparing First and Final Drafts

After comparing my first draft and final draft I was able to identify many more surface level revisions in my first draft. Some of the revisions included spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I also made a couple revisions regarding sentence structure and word choice.

I also did utilize global revision but not as much as surface level revision. For global revision I made edits to my thesis statement and where that was placed. I also used global revision to change up some parts of the structure of the essay.

Peer Review Reflection 1

When I peer review someone’s paper I generally read it a few times to see if anything sticks out to me. Usually the first thing I will look for are any grammar or sentence structure issues, and I will comment about to how to fix them. Then, I will look at how they set up their argument, and make sure it relates to their thesis. I will also look at any evidence or quotes they used and make sure they are utilized correctly. Then I will usually read the essay again to see if I missed anything, and make sure it fits together well.

The comments I received from my peer review were very helpful. I had missed a few grammar things that I did not realize when writing, but my peers picked up on. I also got comments about using more specific evidence, which will remind me to to not be vague in my essay. Another comment that was helpful to me was about making sure I covered all of what the prompt asked. I will keep these comments in mind when revising my essay, and will use them during the revision process because now I am aware of parts of the essay that I can fix.
